Child Care Grant

The Lenoir Community College Child Care Grant is a grant funded by the state of North Carolina to assist currently enrolled students with their child care expenses. It is meant to serve as partial and temporary child care funding while the student is enrolled in classes and is meeting grant requirements. For the Lenoir Community College Child Care Grant, a childcare provider is a person, business, or organization that provides child care services to its clients or customers, including licensed daycare or individual providers, unlicensed childcare providers, student-parents parent, personal nannies, after-school programs and summer programs. Funds are paid directly to state-licensed child care providers or private sitters for children between the ages of birth to 12 years old. The grant covers the months of August through the last day of the summer semester as long as funds are available and the student is enrolled.

To be eligible for the grant, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree or Title IV eligible diploma Program
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours with LCC
  • Must be a NC resident

To apply for the NC Child Care Grant, a student should complete the following:

  • FAFSA Application with LCC
  • Complete the FAFSA verification process with the LCC Financial Aid Office (if applicable)
  • Admission Process for a curriculum program at LCC
