Financial Aid funds are limited and can depend on early application! All Financial Aid options require applicants to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Finish Line Grants
Emergency Assistance Application
Finish Line Grants are grants up to $1,000 awarded to community college students who are on the cusp of completing their education or training and are faced with an unanticipated financial hardship that may prevent them from doing so.
Grants can be used for course materials, housing, medical needs, dependent care, or utilities, other financial hardships that students face through no fault of their own.
In order to be eligible for a Finish Line Grant, you must:
- Must have an unforeseen emergency hardship.
- Be enrolled in a curriculum program or an eligible workforce continuing education course leading to an industry -recognized credential.
- Be in good academic standing as defined by LCC.
- Have completed at least 25% of the degree or credential program (or be enrolled in the courses that will constitute 25% completion).
Eligibility: US citizen or permanent resident; enrolled in an eligible program (college transfer, associate, diploma and some certificate programs); demonstrated need based on FAFSA application; satisfactory academic progress.

Deadline: June 30 (priority)
Award Amount: Up to $6,495
Application Procedures: The completed Web application takes a maximum of two weeks to process. A processed Student Aid Report (SAR) will be sent to the applicant via email. The amount of the applicant’s award is determined from the SAR by the Financial Aid Office. Upon confirmation of enrollment, funds are disbursed directly to the students’ account.
Selection of Recipients & Allocation of Awards: The Federal Pell Grant is an entitlement program. Eligibility and award amounts are based on financial need. Financial need is determined by a formula applied to all applicants. It was developed by the U.S. Department of Education and is reviewed annually by Congress. The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is calculated by this formula.
Award Schedule: 2021-2022 awards up to $3,248 per semester. The amount of the award will be affected by costs of attendance and full-or part-time enrollment status. The Federal Pell award does not duplicate State awards.
Rights & Responsibilities of Recipients: Students must continue to make satisfactory academic progress each term in the degree program in which they are enrolled to receive funds and must not owe any refunds on Federal Pell Grants or other awards paid, or be in default on repayment of any student loan.
Enrollment Status: If your EFC is higher than 3,500 you may not be eligible for any percentage if you enroll less than full-time.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG)
Eligibility: US citizen or permanent resident; enrolled in an eligible program (college transfer, associate, diploma and some certificate programs); demonstrated need based on FAFSA application; satisfactory academic progress.

Deadline: March 30 (priority)
Award Amount: $400 per year
Rights and Responsibilities of each term Recipients: The student must continue to make satisfactory academic progress each term, and meet all the requirements for the Pell Grant.
Enrollment Status: Student must be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours.
Eligibility: Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each academic year. The Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program is federally funded by The United States Department of Education to provide need-based employment for college students. FWS allows students to work part-time while attending an institution of high learning.
Application: Positions are posted as they become available. Students should periodically check for positions that reference Work Study in the title if interested.
Work-Study Positions Available

Award Amount: Dependent upon work hours
Federal Loan Program: The college does not participate in this program and students are not eligible. Our current Cohort Default Rate (CDR) is 0. In the event the college’s CDR rises about the national average, the College will post the rate on our website.
Private Loans: It is highly recommended that students seek all other forms of financial aid and speak with a financial aid counselor at LCC before the use of loans. To obtain a private loan students must contact lenders directly.
Eligibility: NC resident; enrolled at least 6 credit hours; have EFC. (Expected Family Contribution) within a range determined by the State each year. Be a US citizen or permanent resident; enrolled in an eligible program (college transfer, associate, diploma and some certificate programs); demonstrated need based on FAFSA application; satisfactory academic progress.
