Certified Veterinary Assistant (Short-Term Training) Vet Tech Assistant

The Certified Veterinary Assistant course is designed for instructional areas related to a veterinary practice, including veterinary terminology, anatomy and physiology, animal behavior and communication, grooming techniques, proper handling and restraining of animals, obtaining and handling specimens, emergency care, and office management. Reference to medical records, charting, and detailed documentation may be included. Students will be prepared to sit for the Texas Veterinary Medical Association’s Certified Veterinary Assistant certification exam. Guest speakers and field trips will be offered to students to area farms, zoos, aquariums, etc. for hands-on experience with various types of animals.
