Early College

Graduate Decision Day in high school is a special event that celebrates achievements. Most high schools celebrate the commitment of a high school senior to a college or university in a particular sport in which he or she has excelled. But at GEC, that is not the case; it is very different.

Forty-one seniors from Lenoir County Early College High School will be the first of nearly 500 members of LCPS’s Class of 2023 to receive diplomas when their Wednesday ceremony kicks off a string of five graduation exercises.

Wyatt Grantham, a Greene Early College senior, recently received the rank of Eagle Scout, the most prestigious achievement in the Scouting world. Attended by family, friends and fellow scouts, the official ceremony was held February 18, 2023 at Calvary Memorial Methodist Church, Snow Hill.

Four students from Lenoir County Early College High School teamed up this past weekend to claim the state championship in the North Carolina Council on Economic Education Personal Finance Challenge and earn a spot in the national competition.

Greene Early College’s prestigious Student Ambassadors are truly advocates for GEC.  They are charged with telling the story of the school and its programs to the public, educators and prospective students.

Greene Early College proudly announces students who have been named to the Principal’s List(all A’s) and Honor Roll(all a’s and/or B’s) for the third nine weeks. Congratulations to all students for their commitment to academic excellence.

The students inducted are (l to r): Emma Roberson, Kayla Guzman, Adilene Borja and Hunter Winarski. Established in 1918 by two-year college presidents and recognized in 1929 by the American Association of Community Colleges, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society is the official academic honor society for two-year colleges.

The staff of Greene Early College has proudly selected Brittany Hood as their teacher of the year. A graduate of East Carolina University as an NC Teaching Fellow 2013, she has taught World and American History for eight years at GEC. Currently, she is excitedly preparing through intense professional development for the Economics and Personal Finance

Thirteen students from Lenoir County Early College High School took on the role of state leaders this past weekend when they joined approximately 200 other North Carolina students in the NC Youth Legislative Assembly (YLA) in Raleigh.

Donning reflective orange vests and pulling on plastic gloves, and  armed with large trash bags and  a lot of determination, thirty-seven Greene Early College students and four staff members
