Health Sciences Admissions
BEFORE APPLYING
BEFORE applying, an applicant must satisfy the math, biology, and TEAS or ACT prerequisites and must complete any needed developmental Reading or English courses.
MATH (All Programs)
An applicant must have completed one of the following before receiving the application packet:
- An unweighted high school GPA of 2.8+ from a College Prep Curriculum valid within 10 years of enrollment
- MAT 080 with a grade of “C” or higher within the past 10 years
- RISE placement or transition studies showing mastery of Units 1-12 (Tier 2) within the past 10 years
- Students who do not satisfy the high school GPA or RISE placement requirements, must attend the transition course, MAT 003, until mastery is achieved through Unit 12 (Tier 2). Students who have completed one of the following college transfer math courses from a regionally accredited institution with a “C” or better may meet the math requirement: MAT 121, MAT 122, MAT 141, MAT 143, MAT 151, MAT 152, MAT 161, MAT 171, MAT 263, MAT 271 and other courses not listed may be considered on an individual basis. Students who receive Tier 2 credit via the “MAT 110, credit for Tier 2 Waiver/Substitution” will not qualify for placement into a Health Sciences/Nursing program. (A10300FY Statement)
TEAS EXAM or ACT (All Programs except LPN to ADN and PARAMEDIC to ADN)
- All applicants are required to take the TEAS or ACT. The score report must be submitted to receive an application and checklist. See Step 3 for guidelines, study guides, test dates, how to pay and register for the TEAS or ACT test.
BIOLOGY (ADN and PN applicants ONLY)
An applicant must complete the following before receiving the application packet:

- If BIO 168 has not been completed with a grade of “C” or higher within 5 years of admission, the applicant must be enrolled in and complete BIO 168 during the fall semester. Documentation of enrollment is required when submitting the INTENT TO APPLY. An official transcript with grade of “C” or higher will be required when submitting the Health Sciences application.
- If BIO 169 has not been completed with a “C” or higher within 5 years of admission, applicant must complete BIO 169 before or during the spring semester prior to enrollment. Proof of enrollment is required when submitting the Health Sciences application.
- Proof of completion of BIO 169 with a “C” or higher within 5 years of admission must be submitted with an official transcript at the end of the spring semester.

The Registrar’s Office and the Dean of Health Sciences and Nursing must approve the equivalent to BIO 168 and 169.
LPN to ADN applicants ONLY
BIOLOGY AND PSYCHOLOGY
An applicant must complete the following before receiving the LPN to ADN application packet:
- Applicants must also have completed BIO 168 and BIO169 with a grade of “C” or higher and PSY 150 with a grade of “C” or higher (the 5 year rule does not apply to these courses)
ADDITIONAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- If an applicant has not completed PSY 241 and ENG 111, the applicant will be required to take these courses with NUR 211.
- If an applicant has not completed HUM 115, ENG 112, BIO 275, and a humanities/fine arts elective, the applicant will be required to take these courses with the NUR courses noted in the catalog.

MATH PHARMACOLOGY EXAM
- Register for Math Pharmacology Exam with Heather Philyaw. Please email hmphilyaw44@lenoircc.edu.
- A satisfactory score must be obtained on the math-pharmacology competency exam.
- The Math Pharmacology Study Guide can be obtained upon request.
Paramedic to ADN applicants ONLY
Request an Eligibility Review: To verify completion of all prerequisites, you may request an eligibility review prior to completing Step 1. Email hsinfo@lenoircc.edu and attach unofficial transcripts and/or placement scores if LCC does not have them on file.
BIOLOGY, PSYCHOLOGY, ENGLISH, AND HUMANITIES
Applicants must complete the following before receiving the Paramedic to ADN application packet:
- Science: BIO 168, BIO 169 and BIO 275 with a grade of “C” or higher (the 5 year rule does not apply to these courses).
- The Registrar’s Office and the Dean of Health Sciences and Nursing must approve the equivalent to BIO 168 and 169.
- Psychology: PSY 150 and PSY 241 with a grade of “C” or higher
- English: ENG 111 and ENG 112
- Humanities: HUM 115 AND an additional Humanities/Fine Arts Elective
ADDITIONAL PREREQUISITES
- Submit documentation of a current unrestricted National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians- Paramedic certification (NREMT-P)
- Submit documentation of a current unrestricted North Carolina EMT Paramedic certification
- Submit documentation from employer of a minimum of one year full time EMT Paramedic work experience within last five years
- Submit documentation of a current American Heart Association BLS Health Care Provider Course
If you have satisfied ALL the prerequisites, you are ready to begin the competitive application process.
1. COMPLETE LCC APPLICATION
If you are a current LCC student enrolled in a college level course, you may skip this step. You may contact the Health Sciences Admissions Specialist to determine if you need to update your LCC Application at hsinfo@lenoircc.edu.
Set up your myLCC Account to establish a required LancerMAIL.
Setup Lancer Account This application works best when using Internet Explorer. It takes up to 24-48 hours to activate your myLCC account and for Admissions to process your application.
Complete an online LCC Application for General College Admission at the link below. Select the appropriate major for your program of interest. Select the academic term that you would like to begin (fall, spring, or summer). As part of the general admissions process, submit an official high school transcript, official transcripts from all other colleges attended, and placement scores if applicable.
Acceptance into a Pre-Health Sciences program does not guarantee enrollment into the Health Sciences and Nursing program.
2. COMPLETE INTENT TO APPLY FORM
Before submitting the Intent to Apply, you may select your one or two programs of interest. Prerequisites for Health Sciences and Nursing programs must be completed before submitting the Intent to Apply form. To review program prerequisites, see the programs’ Point Count Work Sheets or Semester by Semester Plans (SBS). If the prerequisites are completed, submit your Intent to Apply form. Link Below. A confirmation email will be sent indicating that your Intent to Apply form was received.
NOTE: Only one Intent to Apply form is allowed but you may select to two programs with one Intent to Apply submission.
3. SUBMIT TEAS/ACT TESTING SCORES
All applicants are required to take the ACT or TEAS Exam. The official score report must be submitted to LCC Admissions to receive a Health Sciences and Nursing program application.
- ACT or TEAS exam must be completed within the past 5 years
- TEAS exams must have a minimum overall score of 58.7%
- Admissions Specialist will review your test scores.
- A Health Sciences and Nursing Application Packet will then be sent to your LancerMAIL.

4. APPLICATION PACKET
A Health Sciences and Nursing program Application Packet will be sent via your LancerMail when the Admissions Specialist determines that an applicant has met program prerequisite requirements which may include, but not limited to math, biology, and ACT/TEAS testing scores.
The Application Packet is time-sensitive and will have a deadline in January. Once you have completed the Application Packet, it must be returned to the Health Sciences and Nursing Admissions Specialist. The Application Packet will come from hsinfo@lenoircc.edu to your LancerMail account.
5. SUBMITTING HEALTH SCIENCES AND NURSING APPLICATION
All applicants must submit their Health Sciences and Nursing application no later than the program deadline listed at the top of the website page. See important dates. If you are applying to ADN and/or PN programs and will not complete the biology prerequisite requirements of BIO 169 prior to submitting the Health Sciences and Nursing application, you must submit an official transcript showing your grades for BIO 169 immediately upon completion.
